and whose father, The brothers are: Alexander CURRY YATES, d: 12 Aug
1932 and Robert CURRY YATES, b: 5 Feb 1931; d: 24 Aug 1993.!PROFESSION:
Robert "Bobby" served in the Air Force. He lived in Texas for a time and
then returned to VA where he lived near his pa
rents in Charles City County, VA.!DEATH: Obituary,Richmond
Times-Dispatch, 26 Aug 1993: YATES, Robert Curry, 62, of the Glebe Lane,
Charles City, died Tuesday, August 24, 1993. He is survived by his
mother, Jeannette Beazley Yates, and his f
ather, Joseph Ashton Yates, of Charles City; his brother, The Rev.
Alexander C. Yates, of Norfolk; two sons, Michael C. Yates, of Dallas,
TX, and Robert C. Yates, Jr., of Waco, TX; and three grandchildren. Mr.
Yates was a charter member of Me
morial United Methodist Church, where the funeral service will be
conducted by the Rev. Leslie G. Goode, on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Burial
will be at Micah Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that
contributions be made to Memorial
United Methodist Church. The casket will be open in church one hour

YATES was held at Micah Cemetary, which once was the location of Micah
Methodist Epsicopal Church u
ntil 1948, when Memorial was formed from four M.E. Churches in Chalres
City County. The burial service was attended by members of the VA Air
National Guard, who conducted the military portion of the service.
PERSONAL NOTE: Lt. Col. Ralph BAR
KER was in charge of the military burial flight. In 1972, Col. BARKER
was Airman BARKER and was instrumental in the recruitment of this writer
in the VA ANG.
