- !DEATH: Obituary, date and paper unknown: Mrs. JOHNSON, 70, Succumbs
Here... Mrs. M.E. JOHNSON, 70, of 615 Raleigh Road, Ramseur, died at
12:10 p.m. yesterday in Cone Memorial Hospital. (Greensboro, NC) Mrs.
JOHNSON, in declining health for three years, had been seriously ill and
a hospital patient for two months. A native of Troy and the former
Blanche COVINGTON, daughter of the late A.B. and Helen CAPLE COVINGTON,
she had been a resident of Ramseur most of her life. She
was active in civic and social life in Ramseur, a member of the First
Baptist Church, the Wayside Garden Club and the Ramseur Rook Club there.
Surviving are her husband and one sister, Mrs. E.B. LEONARD of Ramseur.
The body will be taken
from Hanes Funeral Home here at 10 a.m. today to the residence where the
funeral will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday. Officiating will be Dr. J.E.
PRITCHARD, a retired Methodist minister of Randolph County; the Rev.
Fletcher FORD, pastor of the
Ramseur First Baptist Church; and the Rev. Ernest PAGE, pastor of the
Ramseur Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Ramseur City Cemetery.
Pallbearers, all nephews of Mrs. JOHNSON, will be Minor E. MARSH, J.W.
MARSH, J. Arthur MARSH, Jr
., William CRANFORD, Clyde G. BURKHEAD and Burton LEONARD.!RELATIONSHIP:

COVINGTON, daughter of the
late A.B. and Helen CAPLE COVINGTON. She moved to Ramseur with her
family as a girl and had lived there since...Mrs. JOHNSON and Mrs.
LEONARD were the only remaining members of a family of five daughters and
four sons born to their parents.!
