"Randolph Leader Dies...Ramseur, July 30"
M.E. JOHNSON, 78, of Ramseur, a former member and chairman of the Board
of Randolph County Commissioners, died at 8 a.m., today in Randolph
Hospital, Asheboro, where he had been a patient seven weeks. His only
immediate survivor is a sister, Mrs. J.C. MARSH of Greensboro. Funeral
services will be conducted at the Ramseur Baptist Church Saturday at 3
p.m. and burial will be in the Ramseur City Cemetery. In the 30's,
JOHNSON instituted a regime of strict economy to improve Randolph
County's credit standing and put the county on a sound footing
financially. He has not been active for several years but he remained
secretary-treasurer of the Ramseur Building & Loan Association until this
year. He was a life-long member of Ramseur Baptist Church where he was
Sunday school superintendent for 30 years and a teacher for 25 years. He
was a member of the Randolph Hospital Board and the Randolph County
Library Board.

Marion Edgar Johnson was born in Randolph County, NC, Oct 2, 1880. He
died in Randolph County Hospital in Asheboro, NC on July 30, 1959. He
was buried in Ramseur, NC. He married Blanche Covington (born 1884) on
March 9, 1910. They lived in Ramseur, NC and had no children. She died
on Feb. 25, 1954 at Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
in 1910, M.E. Johnson was the superintendent of the broom shop.
