- Obituary - Richmond Times Dispatch, Thursday, November 28, 2002:
Manrid Lewis Winder, 84, of Millers Tavern, died Wedneday, November 27,
2002. He was preceded in death by a son, Francis A. Winder; and was the
last survivor of seven brothers and a sister. Mr. Winder was a retired
farmer of Essex County, a member and former deacon of Howerton's Baptist
Church and a founder and member of Dragon Hunt Club. He is survived by
his wife, Annice J. W inder; his children, Manrid Lee Winder and Athey
Tyrone Winder of Chesterfield County, Faye Jeanette Lumpkin of King
George, and Stephen Louis of Millers Tavern; 12 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in
the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Interment in Howertons
Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.
Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
the Howertons Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Patricia Winder, P.O. Box
36, Millers Tavern, VA 23115.
